FC Home-con: Plot structure

Outline

1. Goal/agenda (heist plot)
   • Dave — Hyena
     • Swish LGBT streamer
     • Swish partner (goal)
   • Jared — Stoat (based on the vibes)
     • Large software firm, middle manager
     • Swish employee
2. Meet cute
   • Meet at SwishCon
   • Dave gives a pitch and it falls flat — Gets swamped by TERFs and it crashes, Dave says fuck TERFs every time
   • Dave wants a ‘yeet TERFs’ button for LGBT streams.
3. No way #1
   • Jared: No way this is going to work out, Dave is too much of a dreamer and doesn’t know how this works
   • Dave: Jared’s too uppity, professional, doesn’t care about kicking TERFs, Dave’s ex is super critical of Jared
4. Stuck together
   • Fire alarm, they get stuck standing next to each other in a roped off area
   • They distract themselves about “building is on fire, gonna lose my laptop”, so Jared explains the limitations, Dave feels better
5. No way #2
   • Dave: It’d be cool to have Jared help, buuut he has strong morals that prevent him from saying yes
   • Jared: Conflict of interest: relationship with streamer would keep him from promotion — company has performative allyship and going with this would cost it, too
6. Bone town
   • They’re on a panel together and think “oh jeez, this person is really cool, maaaybe…”
   • They exchange contact info, thinking maybe it could work
7. Seeds of Doubt:
   1. Wallow #1
      • Dave: There’s always a power differential and I get screwed, of course it’ll happen here
      • Jared: Dave has all these people warning him (re: ex) so blahhhh
   2. Retreat
      • Jared: feels put on the spot by Dave’s presentation, job on the line
      • Dave: Too vulnerable because the yeet TERFs button didn’t work, so he feels maybe this is a systemic thing and will never work
   3. Choose fear
      • Dave: gets swamped by TERFs in his next stream, thinks fuck it, not going to even try
      • Jared: No sale on stream swamping, so Swish laughs it off, Jared feels like can’t even engage with Dave so fuck it
   4. Wallow #2
      • Jared: so lonely, going to work myself to death and shut myself off from everyone
      • Dave: going to quit Swish because this always happens and isn’t worth fighting, he’s reevaluating LGBT relationships and he doesn’t have a voice to speak to them despite wanting to
8. Choose love
   • Swish does something terrible so Jared decides (but not yet) quits
   • Dave: Gets a ton of messages saying “you changed my life for the better, you do have a voice”
   • We’re going to get in touch with each other and do a thing
9. Plan! Risk!
   • Dave: put together business plan for new streaming company called Jared.io with boggle and yeet TERFs buttons
   • Jared: Going to quit and start my own company with boggle and yeet TERFs buttons
10. Grand gesture — ends with YES
    • Jared: quits and pitches streaming company called Dave.io to Dave over IMs asking him to be LGBTQ rep
    • Dave: sees Jared messaging and pitches company
    • Their messages collide and they see their business plans together
11. Payoff
    • Wow! Lets do that! And also smooch!
    • They sit beside each other on the couch with their MacBooks and build the platform WHILE cuddling
12. Epilogue/hope
    • dj-stream.io launches and goes BIG
    • There’s also a pillow fight?
