Zk | Heresiarch

Story of someone (Jacob of Euchaita, European Jackal) with earnest beliefs frustrated by being deemed a heretic and where to go from there. Via the list of furry heresies:

Pantherism - the belief that Jesus, as the Pan-Ther (that is, the universal animal), had aspects of all species, including those unique to each, rather than solely aspects shared by all species. See also the related concept of distinctionism, that the spirit of Jesus comprises universal aspects of all species (plus the divine), God the Father comprises all specific aspects (plus the divine), and the Holy Spirit only the divine.

Takes place at the church of St Euphemia, Martyr, outside Chalcedon,

Story

It was the third indiction in the month of October on the eighth day under the Consulate of the illustrious Protogenes and Asturius under the Emperor Theodosius II and Bishop Eulalios of Chalcedon when I was summoned before the Synod, and the tenth day when I was anathematized and my teachings declared heresy. It is a dubious honor that the business of my (apparently heretical) ideas was one of the first things this Council of Chalcedon addressed. Am I to be proud? Am I to take this home to my brethren and show them and say, “Look! How great a blessing the bishops bestow upon me and you!”?

Perhaps that is the only thing left to me, that final ‘benediction’. Perhaps the only things that I have to keep from being overwhelmed by despair are my faith in God and to take that admonition into my heart, into my belly, and rework it through time and loving care into a blessing. They didn’t kill me — couldn’t kill me, not after what happened to Flavian, though I am no Bishop — so my life is all I have anymore. My life and my faith in the universality of the Christ.

At least I was not excommunicated.
