Intro: We have not spoken but for suggestions in missives for thirty years, and now you ask me why I am leaving.
-
1: Remember Qoheleth? Poor fool could never forget
-
2: Never realized that he still had change.
-
3: Never cared, despite his job, his own story.
-
4: RemembeR? Do you remember and laugh?
-
5: I know that all my words are bound in snark
-
6: But all that hides is asking why.
-
6: My dear, did you ever ask why?
-
1: Sure, you knew the reasons, the drive to forget,
-
5: And you know the how, because of course. My snark
-
2: Is here to obscure. I am not sorry. I will not change.
-
4: Only, I wonder. When he died, did you laugh?
-
3: Cry? Sigh? In the night, tell yourself a story?
-
3: I, artist of nonsense, will ever tell my stories.
-
6: The stories of too many reasons why
-
4: You took your bet. For some of them, I laugh.
-
1: Sad laughs, laughs where you shake your head. Forget!
-
2: Silly man, but sillier bet. You, also, must change.
-
5: I cannot demand, I am not you. Only hint, smile, snark.
-
5: Again, I do not apologize for such snark,
-
3: And were I more polite, only thank you for the story.
-
2: At my lowest, I might sigh, nod, hope for change.
-
6: I am not low. I am a perhaps-polite, I bow and ask for whys.
-
1: I have done my work, my level best to forget,
-
4: So I only hope for reasons, reassurance, commiserating laughter.
-
4: How silly! Hopping to hear you, of all, laugh.
-
5: But nothing else will cut through snark.
